WIP Hobbit Feet by damnitsasha WIP Hobbit Feet by damnitsasha
I am working on hobbit feet. I am in the process of making a Merry Brandybuck costume, but I will likely make a few other hobbit costumes as well. I already have Frodo's hair, so that will have to happen at some point, and I will likely not be able to resist a Bilbo Baggins costume. Mostly, though, I just want to wear these feet everywhere! I can't wait to add the hair, but I have to finish painting first. You can probably see the difference between them already, I will keep at it.

looking good! i did this a few years ago (they ended up on BoingBoing and all over the internet so maybe you saw them?) and it worked out so well. They lasted through trick-or-treating and unfortunately my son outgrew them so they are just sitting in the costume box now!

Can't wait to see the finished feet! Have fun :D

Ah, cool, you were probably the ones I saw that gave me this idea! Thanks for being a genius, your design has served me well for many a con. There is at least one finished picture in my gallery somewhere.

They came out great! lol so hairrry :p I bet they got a lot of comments! Props to the sculptor at the "funny feet slipper" factory, they're great raw material to work with for *cheap* and some paint really makes them look awesome! Lame as slippers, great as Hobbit Feet! lol these were mine [link]

Yep, yours is the one that inspired mine! I've sent that link to people before, too. A guy I know was talking about sculpting himself feet like they used in LoTR and I suggested he perhaps check out your method because walking on latex would ruin it quite quickly.
This year at Dragoncon our group joke costume was a "sexy" Fellowship of the Ring (to make fun of some of the just plain silly costumes people make sexy). My favorite part was people's reactions to seeing fishnets stretched over hobbit feet!

I'm soooo making a pair of these too! Just ordered myself a pair of funny feet and got some white slip-on shoes. Can I ask what you used to paint them? Fabric paint? Or is acrylic ok?
